Milena Bonvissuto and Athena’s Secret
by Maria Teresa De Donato
Athena, the Greek goddess of Wisdom, Intellect, Crafts, and War, inspired
this story by Milena Bonvissuto, a multifaceted writer and author of numerous
publications.
A lover of her land, Sicily, and her city, Licata, Milena shows in her
literary works a deep and equally proud knowledge of their history. Thanks to
this ancestral bond with her land, she creates characters, settings, and plots
that, oscillating between reality and fiction, retain the intact charm of
mystery and the flavor of ancient times rooted in her DNA.
Milena, however, is also an efficient, rational, and pragmatic woman, and at
the same time, endowed with great sensitivity and capacity for introspective
analysis, characteristics that emerge from her works. These aspects, combined
with an evident interest in esotericism, mythology, and magic, represent a
winning combination.
The charm of mystery, of the invisible, of what is perceptible without being
visible, with which Milena intrigues and makes the reader dream, transporting
them into the world of perceptions, is contrasted with messages and teachings,
seemingly hidden, that are as profound as they are concrete. With them, the
author skillfully brings the reader back to reality, pushing them towards inner
analysis, self-awareness, reflection, and even action. Thus, an impossible love
between the story's two characters, Nina and Leonardo, becomes the very
metaphor of the struggle for justice.
Athena’s Secret, therefore, allows the reader an escape from everyday
life and an immersion in an "other" world composed of symbols,
whispers, intuitions, and foresight, while at the same time prompting them to
reflect on their capacity to face and overcome the storms of life.
