The book "Autism from a Different Perspective - Cesare's Successful Story" by Giovanni Tommasini and Maria Teresa De Donato is a hymn to hope: if a diagnosis of autism can represent an irremediably negative turning point in the life of those who are involved, this book is a journey towards new frontiers of optimism, towards the understanding of the problem, in its most concrete meanings, a text of positive turning point in the approach to autism.  Too often, we see the lack of a correct diagnosis.  Too often, we see families left alone with the fatigue of having an autistic child and the lack of specific individualized projects.  This text, born with the contribution and collaboration of two authors, examines the situation of autism in its complexity to face, with comprehensiveness and an overview of these problematic situations, beyond easy stereotypes and improper diagnoses.

With a deep look, the authors give an interpretation consistent with this type of problem, a new approach aimed at perceiving autism as an alternative existential modality that, with due care and caution, can bring satisfaction and success in everyday life.  Cesare's successful story inspires strength and courage, even though autism invariably puts him in front of so many difficulties.

Whoever reads this book can almost touch the respect with which this issue is addressed.  There are many perspectives for those who experience the disorder firsthand or indirectly, but also for those who want to deepen the topic.  A book suitable for everyone not only works closely with these issues but which makes us understand, in-depth, the importance of empathy and sensitivity in being able to read the various life situations in time and the inevitable flexibility required in the path of those interested.  The book will guide parents, family members, teachers, and educators along a journey of knowledge and discovery.  At the end of it, autism will be less scary.  Some practical information presented in this publication will be available to make a child with autism more serene,  free, and independent adult.
