The Parallel Universe - Interview by Maria Teresa De Donato

The Parallel Universe by Patrizia Carlotti

Interview by Maria Teresa De Donato

Dear friends,

Today, I am again joined by a very welcome guest, Patrizia Carlotti, whom I had the pleasure of interviewing some time ago. Although she works in Public Administration, Patrizia has cultivated some great passions since she was very young, namely Music and Singing. To this is added Writing since, in addition to singing them, Patrizia is also the author of her lyrics.

That said, Patrizia and I wish you all a good read and invite those who want to follow us on social media and on our blogs to stay up-to-date with our respective activities.

Thanks in advance to all those who will do so.

MTDD: Hello, Patrizia, and welcome back to my Virtual Cultural Lounge.

PC: Hello, Maria Teresa. The pleasure and honor are all mine!

MTDD: Patrizia, as we explained in our previous interview when it comes to music and singing, you are a 'daughter and granddaughter of art.' Your father was, in fact, a professional trumpet player, singer, and entertainer, and your paternal grandfather was a mandolin and violin player. Last time, we briefly discussed your Life and interests, especially the musical ones that you cultivated over many years through participation in choirs, parishes, and gospel groups, and how these experiences were beneficial for you in learning specific techniques. Today, on the contrary, I want us to focus on your career as a soloist and on your activity as a Writer, examining the very significant lyrics of your songs and the messages that, often metaphorically, you try to communicate to the public. Among the themes that I have identified, the following emerge:

• Love,

• Faith, Spirituality, the search for the meaning of Life and the attempt to give answers to our many 'Whys,'

• Disability, and

• the courage and determination not to let ourselves be overwhelmed by it but instead learning to live with it and overcome it to live and fully enjoy Life despite the difficulties.

If you agree, I would like to start with ELIOS and analyze with you some sentences contained in the text:

"You are a mystery that hurts... like a dagger... The desire to fight for me..."

PC: Let's get started, then… First of all, I've to point out that I began singing when I was very young; I've always been drawn to it. I began participating in singing competitions as a teenager. However, my writing style has evolved as I've grown and matured. The song "Elios" is the one that gives the album its title; it's the lighthouse that illuminates all the others. Elios represents my father; his name was Elino, a particular name, beautiful, Elino like Elio, my Sun, my inner Light, the genuine Light, my Guide. After his passing, a deep search began within me, as if an inner voice was calling me with great force, urging me to listen to it in every way. One day, I made myself comfortable at my desk, facing the computer. In the silence, I started to write down the things that my inner voice suggested to me.

In a few minutes, Elios was born, and while I was writing those sentences, I was crying. I felt the strong presence of my father nearby.

"You are a mystery that hurts" represents the mystery of death, which is so scary, especially to us Westerners, accustomed to all kinds of exorcisms in front of the one who is only a passage to what, according to Eastern philosophies, represents a vibrational change, we should not fear anything, instead religion is full of dogmas that have influenced us…, but in reality now I know that only our physical body dies, our spirit is not tied to matter, but being energy, we never die. Still, we enter a different vibration, and we cannot see many things with our physical eyes, such as X-rays, ultraviolet rays, or small particles under the microscope, which exist in reality.

"Like a dagger that hurts," this phrase represents the sharp pain, humanly understandable, of not being able to hug him again, listen to him, kiss him, as we are used to living in this material reality, but as someone said: "You are in this world, but you are not of this world!".

"The desire to fight for me" means the discouragement of not having him close to me anymore makes me fragile; when you lose a parent, the roots of the tree are cut!

MTDD: Continuing with ELIOS, we arrive at one of the fundamental themes of your discographic production: disability.

"I stop here... next to me, the black shadow does not speak..."

"The desire to run away from here..."

Would you like to comment on these two sentences for our readers?

PC: Yes, of course! The fact is that the sentence "the black shadow next to me does not speak" would never have been associated with a disability if I had not declared it in the previous interview. It is not linked to the issue of losing one's sight at all... This sentence means that a dark part lives in each of us; we are beings who live to experience duality, that is, everything and the opposite of everything, good and evil, good and bad, beautiful and ugly,

"Next to me the black shadow," it does not help me, it is the mind, which speaks out of place, always, which does not calm down, which does not listen to the depth of ourselves, which always suffocates creativity, the purest feeling, and since Elios flew away, it is a deceptive and sometimes silent shadow.

"The desire to escape from here..." Finding myself deprived of my guidance, I would like Elios to reveal himself more to me, at least telepathically, to make me dream, transporting me away from this reality devoid of dreams.

MTDD: Continuing with ELIOS:

"But after the winter, a Sun will shine in me that has never gone out... ELIOS: I feel you."

What is this Sun that will continue to shine? Would you like to elaborate on this concept for those who are unfamiliar with you?

PC: "But after the winter, a sun will shine in me that has never gone out…" The Sun has always been inside me.

"I am Mael, daughter of light" is a phrase from one of my upcoming songs. My personality has always been sunny; a smile is a must for me. With a smile, you can fight and disarm everything and everyone. A smile regenerates; a smile gives Love and peace.

"After the winter," it means very simply that after the cold, the sadness, the lack, the time has come to find myself again, Elios, my father, after the pain of his physical loss, now I feel him, he lives inside me, he is a part of me, and I will never lose him!

MTDD: Now, I would like to move on to L'Universo Parallelo (= Parallel Universe), a song that is particularly dear to me and that moves me so much every time I listen to it.

"Like the breath of a God who is not there..."

"Unknown and mysterious until yesterday, the truth..."

"My dream will come true like a painter's painting... We resist in my way... to everything that will happen..."

“The Parallel Universe is already here and already waiting for us ..."

Would you like to add anything else to expand the meaning of these verses?

PC: L’Universo Parallelo, might have a brother ahahahah... Yes, apart from the mirror of an equal universe, which is practically an eight, I also wrote another song, which is currently stored in a drawer. We'll see... whose title is "L'Unico Verso" (= The Only Direction), that is to say, that the human being can only follow one path, that of good. Well, the Parallel Universe is very popular; it is among the songs that the public adores; the phrase "Like the breath of a God who is not there", is the question that torments the human being, so many are the tests to which Man is subjected, of all sorts, and many times we ask ourselves if God exists, who He is, and why He who can do everything, allows so many bad things to happen.

"Mysterious and unknown until yesterday, the truth." After the storm comes the calm, or, if we want to say it differently, after the anger comes the reflection. The surface mind calms down, and finally, wisdom speaks, Sophia. The Truth was unknown to me until yesterday; now, it is no longer so. God exists! Everyone sees Him as they wish to see Him; He is the entire universe; He is conscience; He divided himself into many small pieces to know Himself, yes, because by being One, understanding everything and everyone, He did not know Himself, and since Love creates, He is Life, he must get to know Himself for the Love of evolution, of continuous improvement.

"My dream will come true, like a painter's painting." It is the dream of a fair world, a world of Love, a sort of perfection, precisely like a painter's painting.

"I resist in my own way to everything that will happen." Suppose I have understood the great Truth, hidden from our knowledge forever by religions, despite all the pain we could endure. In that case, there is nothing that will hurt us, precisely because being light, energy, and spirit, we are in this world, but we are not of this world… So, the Parallel Universe is already here, and it has been waiting for us forever! …

MTDD: Listening to your songs and knowing you well, it is clear that despite the trials and difficulties that disability – in your case, a 'visual' one – can cause, you do not like to feel sorry for yourself, so to speak, but that you take action and fight back like a true lioness. These characteristics of yours emerge from some verses of your songs, including the following ones from Io Diamante (= I, a Diamont):

"I want to evolve, you know... I want to know the world... I am always hungry ... for justice and Truth... ... for this arcane reality..."

"... our eyes in the shadows will never see... the dawn... even if the Sun is inside us....."

"What is the use of talent ... if you don't learn to fly..."

These verses are particularly significant, motivating reflection, action, and awareness of one's potential.

Would you like to explore these concepts further, drawing on your personal experiences as well?

PC: Gladly. The songs I write are, yes, autobiographical, but I want to underline that, above all, I have removed the Mayan veil from my real eyes. I'm not talking about physical eyes, but those that open in the astral dimension, working very hard through the experience of pain, facing trials, precisely to grow in personal evolution. The road to Spirituality is all uphill; it is full of pitfalls. I am just at the beginning, but I have found what represents me, what I feel is my Truth, so for me, it is normal to accept my blindness. Still, after all, the physical eyes see only five to ten percent; they often deceive, seeing only the appearance. This exteriority serves to acquaint us with our surroundings; the senses are given to us specifically to experience this reality, but despite everything, I consider myself fortunate. I know the colors, shapes, and environment because I saw them until I was about thirty years old. Of course, I am not saying that it was simple or easy to get used to them, but what is left to do? If I gave up, if I cried on, would that help me? Hence, I see no alternatives... Maybe people should learn to see the other as if they were looking at themselves in the mirror, not to see them as strangers; the other is ourselves; we could find ourselves in their place in just one moment, so let's not consider ourselves "a burden," we must help each other, understanding each other. However, I believe that disability, aside from personal karma, whether of atonement or proof, can be helpful to others precisely because of being different; after all, normality does not exist. Observing our physical body, we discover true collaboration; for example, take our hands – one does one thing, and the other helps it. Our body collaborates as a whole, with each organ dependent on the others, each performing a distinct function. If an organ, such as the eyes, is unable to function, the other senses compensate, and very often, both the brain and the heart are more attentive and willing to understand. I am here to explain some sentences from the lyrics of my songs; I will surprise you by saying that in reality, when I write, my thoughts never go to disability, then the public makes the song their own, lives it, feels it, precisely because the theme then follows a general line, that is, the moral one, of Universal Love for everything. Coming to the explanation that I wanted to convey by writing Io Diamante, when I say, "I want to evolve, I want to know the world, I am always hungry every day that passes for justice and truth…", here too, as I said before, it is a conversation with myself, asking my divine spark that listens in silence, that I have the desire to evolve, to know, I am thirsty and hungry for true justice, not human, but divine, that through the law of cause and effect, sooner or later the accounts will be balanced.

"Of this arcane reality" refers to the hidden, concealed, and esoteric knowledge that was once reserved for a select few. The people were indoctrinated and educated in this esotericism; now, the time has come for everyone to know.

"Our eyes in the shadow will never see the dawn, even if the sun is inside us." The eyes, as I said before, see only electromagnetic Light; they cannot see beyond, so they will never be able to see with the physical sense of sight, in-depth, at least for now… However, the real Sun shines in-depth inside the soul!

"What is the use of talent if you don't learn to fly…" indicates the desire I have to feel useful through music, without asking for fame, notoriety, or money, but always asking my SELF to help me use this talent and direct it to good, so that these messages reach many people, and spur an inner search, whatever it may be, the important thing is not to crystallize; we must move, not remain prisoners inside a golden cage that power has built for us. We all have talents, often more than one; let's utilize them because we are powerful beings, and many are unaware of their potential.

MTDD: You have written many songs, but due to time and space constraints, we cannot analyze them all. I want to conclude our interview by mentioning a fourth one, namely Nuovi Orizzonti (= New Horizons):

"Behind the door... you find the turning point..."

"Everything passes... even the pain in you..."

"Find the key... to enter..."

"New unexplored horizons..."

"New imagined balances..."

These verses also contain a positive, constructive, motivational message.

Would you like to comment on them and also offer suggestions to readers, especially those who, due to serious problems and disabilities, may feel particularly discouraged and alienated, and above all, because of a society that seems to show very little empathy and a sense of inclusion?

PC: The path that the human being travels goes from the savage to the saint; sooner or later, everyone reaches the highest level; we have all been savages; some are ahead, those who are behind, everything passes…

"Behind the door, you find the turning point," After a problem, a tragedy, do not close yourself; the door to open is inside us; let's open it…" Let yourself go; everything passes, even the pain…" It’s a way for me to say, ‘let it be’: the pain grinding our heart, must spur us to react, to turn the page, to grow…

"Find the key to enter, longed-for balance…", the key to get out of the mud is yours alone, it is your decision, either to drown or to rise again, you have no alternatives to find a mental and physical balance… I see Life either in black or white; for me, there are no half measures; if we want a change, this must start with ourselves; there is no point in complaining, playing the victim, or wallowing, I live Life "hard on," without fear, because nothing can hurt me!
