Feng Shui and the three phases of Chi: Sheng, Si, Sha

In my previous articles The Art of Feng Shui (http://www.environmentalhealthanddesign-dedoholistic.com/services/feng-shui/) and Clutter and the Power of Chi (http://www.environmentalhealthanddesign-dedoholistic.com/health-and-environment-clutter-and-the-power-of-chi/) we have already discussed what Feng Shui and Chi are and how the latter works. In this article we will be examining the three phases that may characterize Chi, that is Sheng, Si, and Sha.

Feng Shui Shen Chi is a good, beneficial energy which revives, brightens, refreshes, uplifts, reinvigorates everything and everybody. Shen Chi brings, therefore, health, well-being, prosperity, harmony, peace, joy, happiness for it relates to the positive and vital energy we can experience and which can be generated by pure, fresh, and clean air and an amazing harmonious environment around us, be it indoor and/or outdoor.

In those circumstances where Shen Chi is present places, people, animals and landscapes are healthy, prosperous and communicate a sense of positivity, harmony and balance. Examples of Sheng Chi are those characterized, for instance, by the full moon approaching and by buildings – be it homes, offices or any other kind for that matter – facing beautiful, peaceful, harmonious, breathtaking landscapes such as mountains, parks, gardens, woods, sea, ocean, rivers, or lakes. In fact, all those views encourage and facilitate relaxation and a complete sense of wellness accompanied by positive thinking and positive emotions, feelings and aspirations.

Si Chi, to the contrary, is a negative form of Chi: it characterizes places where there is neither balance nor harmony, where environment, people and animals do not look healthy but rather depleted, not nourished, not being taken care of, weak, as they do not have what they need to live a good and prosperous existence. Si Chi is, therefore, associated with a reduced, weakened, and dying Chi.

Sha Chi is the worst phase of Chi and much more negative than Si Chi. Sha Chi is identified with environments where the energy is disrupted and feelings such as anger, sense of danger and negativity can easily be perceived. The negativity is present to such an extent that Sha is reflected both above (= secret arrows) and below ground (= noxious rays). Below ground noxious rays deplete Chi and promote illness. This is evident in circumstances and environments where people – apparently for no reason – look very tired, lack energy, and get easily nervous. The reason might be that the building people are living or working in stands on a low stagnant ground or on a underground cave and the air around does not flow freely as it should. In those cases, Chi is impaired and restrained.

Hence, Sha Chi secret arrows are conditions that start above ground though in many cases they are generated by situations existing below ground and they interfere with the the harmonious flow of energy. They create obstacles to the passage of Chi and provoke irritation, nervousness and, consequently, have the ability to disrupt a person's life at all levels, be it in the form of breaking relationships, of financial instability, job or money loss, and so forth.

A house having a road or water running directly toward or away from its main door or windows or facing a building that is falling apart or a dead or dying tree or a pole or lamppost or hanging electrical wires or any other element – be it visual or acoustic – which interferes with the view of a beautiful, harmonious landscape is dominated by Sha Chi. The latter is, therefore, a kind of bad Feng Shui energy and can be identified with a severely disrupting, aggressive and even deadly energy.

Sharpness of a structure pointing at a front door or any other windows creates Sha Chi energy, along with any T-junction house which will also generate the accumulation of Sha Chi. This can also occur indoor through sharp wall angles pointing at the bed, and, consequently, at one's own body.
